5 Reasons Why Movement is the Best Therapy

When you are in pain, most people do not think about movement. Usually, the first thought that comes to mind is to reach out for the painkiller medicine or something more invasive. Often without realizing that many musculoskeletal aches & pains can be solved with directional movements, specific exercises and stretches.

Even if it’s not your first option, learning about your body certainly has to be your TOP priority & there are so many reasons why. Here are the top 5 Reasons why movement can be the best therapy stay healthy, strong & overcome pain…

1.Motion is Lotion

If you have ever heard the phrase “Motion is Lotion” it is very true. Your joints are designed to move & in order for you to live at your optimal function, you should move your joints in different directions frequently. If you do not do that, you will lose the mobility in those directions pretty fast.

Whether it is your mobility, strength or flexibility, if you do not use it, you WILL lose it & that is especially true as you get older. As we age, the quality of tissue in our body starts to degenerate & the best way to slow this process down is by moving.

No amount of painkillers, needles or anything else will restore your mobility & activity level until you actually move. So, now is the time to get off that couch or work desk & start moving!

2. Our Joints are designed to Move!

To make it simple, we could compare human body to a car, and just like you do not want your brand new car to be sitting in the parking for many months or years, because it is meant to be driven, your joints are not meant to be in one position, like sitting or standing for several hours & days either.

They require frequent movement to get the blood flowing, for circulation & their nourishment. So give those joints a break from sitting & start moving. Maybe schedule a short walk of 20-30 minutes in your lunch time or take up an exercise class. Whatever you decide to do, one thing is definite that Movement is not OPTIONAL.

3. It is your body’s natural way to heal without Pain Pills, injections or Surgery

Did you know that your body has a natural mechanism of healing itself? After an injury, your body has a natural mechanism of healing & what directional movement does, is gives it the right environment to heal. By providing it with the right environment, we are still relying on bodies natural healing mechanisms but making sure we speed up the process. This way you can reduce or completely avoid any invasive surgeries or pain medications.

4. It will significantly Improve your Quality of Life

Consciously designed exercises will allow your body to gain a freedom of moment, relieving any joint pains as well as gaining a better posture, strength, mobility and confidence, being more functional at any other activities you may enjoy, like running, dancing, biking, etc. Read some of our clients testimonials here.

While getting older, technically it does not mean you should give up on living or stop being active. In fact, there is a lot of research that supports that being active, especially practicing ballet or dancing helps slow down the process of aging.

Most of the time things that give you instant relief like pain medication, needling, massage etc. give you a quick gratification of “feeling better” but unfortunately do not help much at the core cause level. Most core cause of symptoms is buried underneath in years of poor posture, immobility, lifestyle factors etc.

If something has to be built from the base, it will take effort, time & patience. The phrase “Rome was not built in a day” applies to your health too. The real question is are you ready to make the commitment & investment to your health & your body (of which you will have only one in this lifetime). So make sure you take good care of it!

These are only very basic 5 reasons of why we all should move and also move well, the list could go on endlessly, but let’s keep it short this time.
